Batty for Batman in 1966!

I go on record as loving this odd piece of Batman promo art from 1966, provided to the press by ABC. In those days it was an unusual treat to see a non-comic book artist drawing a super hero, and this really got my imagination going.

And speaking of non-comic book artists drawing super heroes -- how sweet is this Herschfeld Dynamic Duo from the pages of TV guide in the summer of 1966? It was used as a one column wide header for Cleveland Amory's re-examination of the shows of the previous year. He downgraded Batman from a 'B' to a 'C' rating -- as it appeared did the audience. Over the summer, both the Wednesday and Thursday installments of the series plummeted from being in the top ten of the TV ratings to somewhere south of being in the top 30.

And speaking of non-comic artists drawing Batman -- well, at least this guy tried!

Don't forget, you can find The Masked Mayhem's marvelous magazines on Amazon, and you won't even need a jungle guide.
