KILLER SERIALS:
WHEN THE PHANTOM CREEPS CREPT AT DC COMICS

(California) One of the oddest and rarest serial collectables must be DC Comics adaptation of Universal's Bela Lugosi serial, The Phantom Creeps in the October 1939 issue of Movie Comics. Here's a look at the cover -- A Full Movie Show for 10 cents! The only interior art from the book I've seen is reproduced in Leonard J. Kohl's book Sinister Serials, but that page reveals the fatal flaw of the Movie Comics adaptations: extremely badly drawn and lettered art haphazardly drawn around photographic elements such as faces and hands. Worth a look as a curiosity. Click the cover to see it larger.
