REVISED EDITION:
FORTIES FLASHBACK, THAT (YANKEE) GIRL:
A  ONE TWO STORY WONDER WHO’S STILL IN ACTION
Copyright AC Comics 2011, The Yankee Girl drawn by Will Meugniot
(California) This is one of those strange moments. I’ve spent the evening comping a new comic book cover featuring the 1940s comic character, Yankee Girl. She’s far from legendary having only appeared in TWO comic book stories printed in 1946/1947 issues of Dynamic Comics published by Harry Chesler. One of which was later reprinted in IW comics Dynamic Comics 1 during the early 60s.

And that was it for her, until the early 1990s when AC Comics brought her back as part of the FemForce universe. She’s proved popular enough since that revival to have her own statue from ReelArts, and a variety of new comics and special issues, including the new one for which I’m doing a cover. All this from a pair of stories with nondescript art and writing, but an oddly appealing heroine!

More Yankee Girl than you can shake a stick at in my next post!

  1. Nice statue! I couldn't help notice that the original costume design was rather less striking. Not sure about the name though. Isn't it time "Yankee Girl" grew up and became "American Woman"?
