That Flash Gordon Dude Looks Like A Lady!

Last time, when discussing Spacemen Magazine, The Mayhem mentioned doing the presentation art for the Flash Gordon show of a couple of' years back. What he didn't tell you was that the original pitch was a role inversion version of Flash -- Flash and Zarkoff were women and Dale was a man!

Here's a look at a couple of pieces done by The Masked One, though his buds Rick Hoberg and the late, badly missed, Dave Simons helped out on some of the other art.

The initial pitch for the show went well enough to keep it alive, but about a month later, it was requested that the art be modified to show the team with their traditional gender assignments. After a long-houred weekend, Flash was a boy, Dale was a girl, and Zarkoff was, well... Zarkoff.
